Hijab-Islam

Though I am not a Muslim, I always had a liking towards Islam and their culture..
I love the beautiful tradition and custom that they follow and have always been astonished by their powerful belief on Allah..
In reference to Fashion, Islam has influenced me to a great extend..
I admire the extraordinary art style that every Muslim posses.. From, the Mughal architecture to the graceful hand-art works of women...

Particularly... HIJAB :
Hijab is a veil which covers the hair and neck. Is a customary part of dress worn by Muslim women.
In Islam, the custom of wearing a Hijab has a wider meaning of modesty, privacy, and morality. This custom is still been practiced by all Muslim women ..
Islamic Fashion has always been an unique part of fashion...
Like any culture, Islam has also made its way to fashion without losing its Modesty ....
According to me, A hejab not only holds the morality of the women..But, makes any women look beautiful ..
Which is probably why, I like Hejab and the most gifted Rabia zargarpur who deemed "modesty is always in style".

Rabia Z., A successful designer from The United Arabs designed to create solutions for women who want to be moderate yet modern, Rabia bench-marked the concept of ‘conservative chic’, becoming the first brand to produce prĂȘt-a-couture ranges catering to niche needs of the ever evolving 96 Billion US$ Islamic wear market.

These are some of her signature Hejab... (And my favorites too )

Tips and Toes

My Nail Art :D

Nail art is something that I love doing on my nails.. Its been 7-8 years since I have been doing nail art.
Initially, I never had pretty nail.. I always used to bite them ( gross )... It was that day, when my friend slapped me for biting my nails, I stopped the bad habit.. It was really hard for me not to bite my nails, so she told me " Probably, If u paint your nails beautifully.. u wouldn't bite them..!"

Yes!! I started with the new trend-nail paints in the market..
It was "glitter nail enamel with stars "..<3 I loved it... I was the first girl in my school to wear it.. I felt so beautiful, confident, blissful and what not....
Then I improved with 2 tone colors, Horizontal ,Vertical lines, checks, Micky, heats and all kid stuff..
Then I moved further when nail art started becoming popular and Trendy...

These are some of my nail art exploration that I do every week..

(will be updating on my nail art snaps)

It is reported that it was the Japanese and funnily enough the Italians (not sure if it was the Romans but will try and confirm later) who first started to add color to their nails around 3000 BC.
The Chinese applied a type of "lacquer" made out of various flower petals such as roses, impatiens (bizzy, lizzies) orchids and beeswax and gelatin. The nails would have this mix applied to the nails overnight and the result would be "stained nails shiny nails" the next day... :o Amazing..!!

It is also in the per-history where royalty is shown in colors of gold, silver, red and black  for their nails..

In the present trend,
Nails art has influenced so many that there are too many ideas and techniques to make your nails as luxurious or pretty for any occasion..
  • Glitter powders
  • Stickers
  • Metal foils
  • Acrylic art
  • Plaster of pairs molds
  • clay canes ..
Are some examples of amazing nail art technique ...

I even painted my nails with pink and silver nail color to match the dress ..:)

Kilts

1929
It is a light weight chiffon fabric detailed with knife pleats- closely tailored, knife pleats have always been in the trend since 1929. It was a popular stitch used in skirts, initially used in player skirts to have more volume and comfort while playing...Later, it was used in gowns, dress, and so ...Even now knife pleats are popularly used in the traditional kilts...

Too Old...... Now, Too new...

Pixies never disappear in the fashion trend since 1960's .. Of course, the pixie crop isn’t a new hairstyle for the year they are back on revival every year and for this summer its the new " ROCK CROP haircut"
Pixies are short hair cuts, generally short on the back and sides of the head and slightly longer on the top..
As far as I know, 2012 has its most revived fashion from the 20's and so on backwards.
These short cuts got popularised in 1920's by  actress Mia Farrow and British super model Twiggy. It was sexy, bold and elegant when it first came.
Later when the same trend moved to the 21st century, it became more stylised and deviated into several different styles. There’s the 60s and 70s crops, there’ll be the 20s crop, and, for 2012, there’s the rock crop.

After it's boom back in 2008, crops have come back with the same popularity as in 20's to the late 2011 and current 2012..

Tough pixies have become stylised day by day, famous Hollywood actress Ema Watson had chosen to stick to Mia farrow's Classy crop style since 2011.It gave her an elegant romantic  look from her cute Princess look.

It is now that this trend has successfully made its way to India, I feel pixies so well on Indian hair. It looks it's best when there are highlights on pitch black hair.
The queen of short hair Lisa Rinna has always tried something unique with her short hair.
And Of course not too recent, but many like Priyanka Chopra , Shriya has tried a form of revived pixies.

I guess you have a clear view about pixies now and what would suit you best, For a perfect little pixie cut around the ears..make it elegant and not too boyish...A little extra on the top and short at the back..If you have super straight hair then it is ready to cut.if you have wavy/curly hair, then make it 2-3 inches left on top and short at the ends...

Roaring 20's

Roaring 20's ruled the runway at the Ralph Lauren 2012 Spring Fashion Show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York, September 2011.

Spring Fashion Trend #5 was inspired by design that was popular in the 1920s.the flappers were a complete break through during the 20's in the fashion trend.
They included short dresses in the flapper style; that is, sleeveless shifts, often with fringe or beading, just as was popular during the 1920s.

At Ralph Lauren many models wore cloche hats. During the 1920s the cloche was the most popular hat style in a time when women seldom left home without wearing a hat for day or a hair decoration for evening.

The Dictionary of Words and Phrases of William and Mary Morris states, “In America, a flapper has always been a giddy, attractive and slightly unconventional young thing who was somewhat foolish girl, full of wild surmises and inclined revolt against the precepts and admonitions of her elders. Yet F. Scott Fitzgerald had a more idyllic way of defining flappers and wrote, “lovely, expensive, and about nineteen”.

Today, there’s a whole new generation of flappers in plunging necklines, shorter hemlines, higher heels and better make up. They’re just as courageous and outrageous as before, and it’s the exact attitude that designers push on the runways with their fierce clothes, set trends and models who are more than ready to ramp and drop it like it’s hot .

Skip this trend if it doesn't speak to you, and if the 1920s-inspired clothing isn't flattering but you like the style, opt for some 1920s-inspired jewelry or a 1920s-inspired metal mesh evening bag.

Its a whole new look this season :D
